The Use of English AI, a collaboration between Use of English PRO and Shining Apps, employs an extensive training set drawn from a variety of Cambridge English books and official materials. It offers a customized experience by modifying exercises from a comprehensive database of over 2,000 official exams, ensuring that learners encounter unique and diverse content each time they engage with the platform. Utilizing advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP), the AI is capable of understanding context, adapting or generating precise exercises, and offering detailed feedback to facilitate effective learning.

Parts of the Exam

The Use of English AI includes both the Reading and Use of English components of the Cambridge English exams, along with Grammar Tests. This comprises various formats such as Open Cloze, Multiple Choice, Word Formation, Keyword Transformation, Long Text, Missing Paragraphs, and Missing Sentences. Furthermore, it caters to various Cambridge English levels: B1 PET, B2 FCE, C1 CAE, and C2 CPE (Preliminary English Test, First Certificate of English, Advanced Certificate of English, and Certificate of Proficiency in English).

Cambridge Preparation on Another Level

The underlying algorithm intelligently selects exercises from the expansive database while employing AI to make minor adjustments for each iteration, providing learners with a refreshingly new experience each time. This results in virtually limitless practice opportunities. On occasion, the AI may autonomously create entirely new exercises; these will be indicated by a special symbol on the exercise page to distinguish them easily.

After completing an exercise, users are prompted to provide feedback through ratings. This input is instrumental in enhancing the AI algorithms. Based on user ratings, exercises may be retained for future use or removed if they do not meet quality standards.

While exercises rated positively may reappear occasionally due to demand for quality content, it is relatively rare. Should an exercise garner poor ratings, it is promptly discarded to maintain a high standard. Once generated, users can take their time working through each exercise; however, after closing an exercise, access will be permanently disabled.

To promote equitable access for all users, the platform allows for three AI-generated exercises every five minutes—a frequency deemed adequate given that solving one exercise typically takes about five minutes. Note that non-PRO users are limited to generating just one exercise per day.
